Position Summary
The Next Generation Pastor at Crossroads Baptist Church is responsible for leading and organizing biblically grounded, engaging, and culturally relevant ministry programs for middle and high school students. The Next Gen. Pastor will also support the Children’s Ministry and when doing so will be serving under the leadership and direction of the Children’s Minister. The Next Gen. Pastor will report directly to the Senior Pastor, this role involves discipleship, relationship-building, event planning, and a strong presence both inside and outside the church walls to reach and equip the next generation.
This staff member will work as part of a team to help Crossroads:
- Reach our community’s next generation
- Disciple the next generation within our church
- Send the next generation into their community—and beyond—with the gospel
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- College degree or active pursuit of a degree required
- Seminary education preferred but not required
- Minimum of 2 years of practical ministry experience (paid or volunteer)
- Demonstrated work ethic and responsibility in previous vocational settings
- Fluent or willing to become fluent in technologies needed for ministry as required
- Strong communication, relational, and organizational skills
- Passion for student ministry and alignment with the mission and values of Crossroads Baptist Church
- Clear communicator of Biblical truth
Spiritual & Ministry Expectations
- Demonstrates a God-initiated calling to ministry
- Holds a biblical theology that aligns with the doctrine of Crossroads Baptist Church
- Meets the biblical qualifications for a pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy and Titus
- Will abide by the Crossroads Baptist Church Employee Handbook, Church Constitution, and Bylaws
Primary Responsibilities
Student Ministry Programming
- Lead and organize regular student gatherings on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday nights, focusing on fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism
- Plan and lead special events, retreats, and camps, incorporating engaging teaching, music, games, and activities
- Create worship services for students that are biblically sound, culturally relevant, and spiritually impactful
Presence & Outreach
- Be a consistent presence in local middle and high schools by:
- Attending school events
- Supporting or leading student Bible studies on campus
- Building relationships during school lunches and extracurriculars
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Children’s Minister and Pastoral Staff to implement a unified church vision
- Guide and equip small group leaders and teachers to disciple students effectively
- Build strong, intentional relationships with students and their families
- Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and volunteers through meetings, emails, and social media
Administrative & Strategic Planning
- Assist in the creation and management of the student ministry budget
- Organize and promote service projects, missions opportunities, fundraising, and fellowship events in alignment with the church’s mission
- Teach students the responsible use of social media and other digital communication tools
Participation & Availability
- Attend all student oriented off-site activities, camps, retreats, and field trips, unless providentially hindered or excused by the Senior Pastor
- Be an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church, involved in church life beyond student ministry through worship, tithes, personal spiritual growth & discipleship, etc.
- Attend and support church events (example: Fourth of July Celebrations, Nights of Praise, Christmas Events, Trunk or Treat)
